About The Hotel

The Elephant & Castle Hotel is the largest Hotel in Newtown. We are situated beside the River bridge known as Longbridge, at the start of/east side of Broad Street. The hotel dates back to the late 18th century and has various old photos of the town displayed around the hotel.

In 2009 the hotel was bought privately and a process of refurbishment began in July 2010. The first stage was completed in December 2010, which saw the whole of the Riverside development refurbished, comprising of a new conference extension, refurbished Function room, Cocktail Bar, Riverside Restaurant and King sized Executive rooms, making prime use of the views over the River Severn. In August 2011 the second stage of redevelopment began, to refurbish the 17 bedrooms in the main hotel.

Within the last 2 years our hotel has been re-established for conferences, accommodation and weddings . It is well used as a meeting point for local people and local businesses, as well as new business from further afield. We are constantly striving to enhance the hotel and pride ourselves on fantastic customer service.
